Among the cameras I use is a 4” x 5” large format that I built several years ago. After I completed it I took a few test shots to confirm its function and waited for a serious opportunity to put it to use.

One day I was looking around my kitchen and I was struck by the various textures and materials available and decided to start a series of kitchen and cooking related images. “La Cocina” was born.

In some of my work you may notice that I like to use selective focus. I like the effects as well as the timelessness that it can impart on some photos. I particularly like the effect it had on “Skillet with Eggs.” I like using the 4” x 5” camera. It takes some tinkering and it is a little finicky but I think the resulting shots have personality.
