Among the cameras I use is a 4” x 5” large format that I built several years ago. After I completed it I took a few test shots to confirm its function and waited for a good opportunity to put it to use.

One day I was looking around my kitchen and I was struck by the various textures and materials available and decided to photograph a series of kitchen and cooking related images. “La Cocina” was born.

In some of my photographs you may notice that I like to use selective focus. I like the effects as well as the timelessness that it can impart on some photos. I am particularly pleased with the effect it had on the photograph: “Skillet with Eggs.” I enjoy using the 4” x 5” camera. It takes some tinkering and it is a little finicky but I think the resulting photograph have personality all their own.
